Zebra crossing will be installed on Kempston Road thanks to Labour councillors

Bedford Labour

Councillors Fouzia Atiq and Abu Sultan are pleased to announce a zebra crossing will be installed on Kempston Road.

The Councillors fully supported the Safer Streets project being piloted in Cauldwell Ward and are delighted to see it being rolled out in other areas of the Borough.

The data from this Safer Streets pilot backed up their belief that a zebra crossing was required on Kempston Road to encourage more children and parents to walk to school. The Councillors persisted in lobbying Bedford Borough Council, stressing how important this was to residents in this area, and this will now make the crossing of Kempston Road much safer for all pedestrians.

Abu and Fouzia said: "We are delighted the Safer Streets pilot was a success. We want to thank all the parents, the school and volunteers who have supported this project.

We look forward to the installation of the zebra crossing, which we hope will encourage more children and parents to walk to school, which in turn will reduce the heavy traffic in the area."
