Sheila Willats 7 Dec 1933 - 28 Jan 2021

We are sad to announce the death of Sheila Willats. a lifelong Labour Party member.

Sheila was born one of nine on a London Council Estate. Moving to Bedford in 1971 with her husband John, an NGA officer, she became a local activist, an efficient Secretary and later Treasurer of Harpur Branch.

Sheila supported John in Trade Union activities, and in her own words “frequently helped carry the banner” and attended conferences in various countries.

She worked for the British Council, at Gordon Fraser in Bedford and was a Citizens Advice Bureau adviser, Sheila could always be relied on to speak her mind at meetings and help with local campaigns and at elections.

We will miss her greatly.
