TORY CLAIM RE KEMPSTON FIRE STATION DISINGENUOUS

Patrick_Hall.jpgRichard Fuller MP must be pretty brass-necked as well as desperate when he claims in his current Conservative leaflet that he and Conservative councillors have 'saved' Kempston Fire Station from going part time.

The truth is that Labour councillors, led by the then Mayor of Kempston, Cllr Carl Meader, displayed firm leadership and took the initiative both in Kempston and at Bedford Borough Council to oppose such a risky proposal - resulting in the Fire Authority withdrawing the plan.

I am sure that we are all grateful that Conservative Councillors seconded the proposal but to suggest that they and the MP were solely responsible, as stated in the Tory leaflet, is at best disingenuous.
