I want a bodacious borough -- one which is proud of the past and positive about the future. I want a borough where visitors can enjoy the countryside, villages, and a vibrant county town. I want Bedford to be a great place to grow, learn, work and visit.
In order to do this, we need to solve some serious local issues: high unemployment and low wages, congested roads and inadequate public transport, and a declining town centre economy with struggling shops and restaurants.
My top priorities are to make Riverside North a success, against the odds; to provide more park and rides, including more buses and village services; direct shuttles from park and rides to the train station; dynamic marketing to attract more and better jobs; regeneration action for Greyfriars, Midland Road, and the train station; improved schools; and the joining up of health and social care services.
Why should you vote for me to achieve these priorities? I have spent thirty years as a human resources specialist, working in the public, private, and charity sectors. I have managed a workforce of 2,000.
I do not believe in accepting inadequate solutions because they are easy.
I will work for you and with experts to find the best solutions for everyone. My approach is to be honest, open, accessible, and answerable to you first and foremost.
