Tackling fly tipping

As ward councillors, we take fly-tipping in Queen’s Park very seriously. That’s why, in March last year, we started a campaign against fly-tipping and knocked on every door in Queen’s Park to ask people not to fly-tip. We also delivered the campaign leaflets in different languages.

From our councillors’ ward fund, we paid for a CCTV camera near the recycling banks on Old Ford End Road which was a fly-tipping hot spot. We also asked the council to bring their enforcement resources to Queen’s Park. Over 20 offenders were fined or cautioned. As a result of our campaign, fly-tipping in Queen’s Park has gone from 25 per cent of the whole borough, to five per cent.

As well as the two litter pickers working in Queen’s Park, we both personally walk and drive around Queen’s Park on a daily basis and report issues.

We ask residents to report fly-tipping or littering (pictured right) to the council on 01234 267422 or us on 07971 835864 or 07974 276944.
