On 19 April 2014, Patrick Hall, Labour Parliamentary Candidate for Bedford & Kempston, attended the birth anniversary celebrations of Dr Ambedkar - renown C20th fighter for the rights of so-called low caste people in the Indian subcontinent.
Patrick said: “I am honoured to have attended the event at Guru Ravidass & Valmiki, Bedford and to have spoken against caste-based discrimination."
"One year ago the Coalition Government reluctantly agreed to recognise and outlaw caste-based discrimination in the workplace. One year on it is clearly dragging its feet. This is unacceptable. The Government must now act!"
