Michael Dugher MP and Patrick Hall, Labour’s Parliamentary candidate for Bedford & Kempston, visited Family Groups Bedford on Tuesday, before speaking to local business owners and residents along Ampthill Road.
Family Groups provides support and training to parents and children in Bedford who have been affected by unemployment, poverty and isolation. Family Group's work is making a huge difference to many families’ lives across Bedford & Kempston.
Patrick Hall said:
"I am impressed with how Family Groups is continuing to deliver a good service despite huge financial pressures. With regard to people working and living along Ampthill Road, a common concern is the negative effect of traffic congestion associated with the complicated traffic light arrangements which blight the area and which must be radically reviewed."
Michael Dugher MP, shadow Cabinet Office Minister, said:
"Working people in Bedford are on average £1,440 worse off under David Cameron's out-of-touch government.
"By cutting taxes for millionaires David Cameron shows he is standing up for a privileged few.
"Rail fares are up, people are working for less and businesses are struggling. That's why we need a cut in business rates for small businesses, extended childcare and a freeze in energy bills.
"It has been great to visit Bedford with Patrick Hall, listening to the issues which matter to people and their ideas for the future."
