When you are snug and warm, please spare a thought for those sleeping outdoors in cardboard boxes at the 'Sleapeasy' event to raise awareness of the plight of the young homeless.
Unfortunately, some young people aged 16-25 in Bedford find themselves in this situation each year, usually through no fault of their own -- for instance a family breaking up.
High rents and benefits restrictions add to the difficulty of youngsters finding urgent accommodation.
YMCA Bedfordshire has organised this 'Sleapeasy' fundraising event at the Bedford Sixth Form College car park in Bromham Road from 7pm to 7am.
It also aims to raise awareness that Bedford Borough Council and YMCA Bedfordshire can offer help and advice when a young person becomes homeless.
Having slept out myself at this event before, I know it's tough to sleep rough, but I know it's very worthwhile as it can help young people not having to sleep rough themselves.
Please kindly donate on www.justgiving.com/ymca-bedfordshire.
