East West Rail Link - A Boost for Bedford

Patrick Hall's letter to Times & Citizen, 28 August 2014.

"I was delighted to read your item (T&C 21 Aug) on the latest promotion of the case for the East West Rail Link through Bedford. Since the late 1990's the idea has always rested upon the social, economic and environmental benefits available over a very wide area from the re-establishment of the Oxford-Cambridge line. This is about much more than linking those two cities. It would open up a range of routes both north-south as well as east-west, providing alternatives to often having to travel into London for other destinations.

I wish the EWR Consortium well in preparing the refreshed business case for the section east of Bedford. If successful, I have no doubt that the completed railway would boost our local economy and help to put our county town back on the map."

Labour Parliamentary Candidate for Bedford & Kempston
