Coalition government refuses food bank funds

Do many people realise how much of our money is lying, unused, in EU coffers because this Coalition Government refuses to claim it on our behalf?

For example, in spite of the recent doubling in the demand on food banks, the coalition government failed to claim the UK's £22m share of a £2bn EU fund to tackle food deprivation across Europe.

Instead, it has taken the minimum allowed sum of £3m which, rather than supporting our food banks, has been used to prop up the already failing work programme.I am calling on the Government to abide by the spirit of the EU food aid programme and spend the £3m it has claimed on its intended use - our food banks.

I feel sure that, once people understand what is going on, they will be happy to sign my petition at:  http://preview.tinyurl.com/ok56r28
